Creative Tuesdays: Magical Lamp

I picture this being the start of "The Journey of the Magical Lamp" or something like that. It's rather rushed as I was trying out new things with a lot of trial and error. Overall though, as a result, I like the feel of this piece. I didn't want it to seem too scary (for kids) but more a sense of adventure and wonder. Where's the boy going? What's lit up ahead? How does the lamp work when it's unplugged? And so on...

OK, off to visit the rest of you (later tonight). Just leave the light on for me, will ya? :)

  1. I love how you have captured the light from his magical lamp, it's perfect. It looks like he is coming out of the forest, very neat! Happy CT Michael!

  2. the boy has red hair which somehow makes me think that could be you as kid but such an intriguing piece. I imagine the kid going on some fantastic journey perhaps involving dragons and giants and such.

    have a lovely day.

    1. As a little boy, my hair was actually blonde, if you can believe it but a mousey brown by the age of this kid. :) Yes, I can picture all that ahead, most certainly. A sort of CS Lewis/Narnia feel to it I think. Thank you, Lissa, for the comment.

  3. Tha;t's what I had in my mind, but was gone all weekend and so used my lamps from Sunday Sketches.
In fact, I wanted to use the verse...Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light to my way.

This is just awesome.....I mean really awesome. I want to follow him into the magical land.

    1. Wow, thank you, Wanda! :D Yes, it def has that sort of feel and that line did occur to me although I wasn't focused on that per se. Like I said above, I feel it is rather Narnia like though and depicts a supernatural or magical light guiding the way to wherever. Does the boy trust his lamps will stay lit or...? Hmm... Thanks again for your visit. :)

  4. Michael, oh so very Narnia! Love how the lamp lights a path making me wonder where does the path lead. The night colors are wonderful as is the red hair. Beautiful art as always. 😊

  6. Very sweet. It's one of those magical lamps I bet. Your forest is very similar to a found poetry journal page I painted not too long ago and I love that page so my whole heart went out to the purples and blues and fluid lines. Well done Michael.

    1. Are you kidding me? I would have never ventured out in the dark, with magical lamp or not! LOL. Nope, more likely to be tucked down under heavy duvet, grabbing my hot water bottle. lol. thank you. :)

  9. While contemplating of trying to join your CT I am browsing through the previous entries. This one stopped me with 'wow'. There's a story there, a good one - tell it!
