Egg Salad, anyone?

Well, these lil' chickies are certainly hatching all over the place and keeping Mama Henrietta very busy indeed on the hunt after them!

You know, I actually had four ideas for this particular theme but decided on this, with its subtler reference to Easter without scrambling farther down that track As it is, I had quite a bit of fun with this one...even though it took me ages to complete -- the chickies were not cooperating at all, let me tell you!

OK, let's see what everyone bought to Scribble Picnic this week. Drop off your dishes, then join us in the Egg Hunt right over there! It was was a toss up to bring Cadbury's yummy Mini Eggs or something more savoury and as it is, something less sweet won out (leek and goat cheese being my present penchant). How about I just leave the sweetness to the young lil' ones instead, adorable as they are...or any of you other sweet peeps out there? :)

Happy Easter and Spring everyone! So glad to celebrate all this season brings...

(Hopefully you've all seen my comments from last go around by the way. I'll update the sidebar with new themes later today or tomorrow perhaps. Please feel free to submit any ideas along in your comment if you'd like.  Thank you so much!)

P.S. Please note: I dressed to match the occasion even and my art work here, no less. :)

  3. Hi Michael :) I love this! I giggled when I saw the little chick with his legs up in the air ha ha ha...that is adorable! And Miss Henrietta's hat!!! I want that for my gardening!!! :) What fun. Happy Easter and a Warm and Lovely Spring to you and your lady! :) Your word play is really fun. When I think of themes, I think of seasons, months, and celebrations usually...April showers, May flowers, Spring garden, nests, birdhouses, melting winter, trees/plants in bloom, baby animals, Earth Day is April 22nd, night skies, sunny skies, streams, lakes...stop me please, lol! ;)

    1. Thank you, Rain, For those wonderful suggestions! In fact, I have indeed to use some of them in the past but also see some here that will definitely be incorporated in the future. :-)

Thank you too for noticing the word play. I really do have fun writing these things up, even though usually it’s getting close to midnight by the time I get my artwork finished at the end of a workday. Rain, you are the best!

  4. I like all the matching of purple, even your shirt on the sidebar image. such adorable drawing. I'm sure I used that word a lot but this is adorable. I like the polka dots on the egg shells that matches the mother chicken or is that hen?

happy spring to you & have a lovely day.

    1. You know what is funny, Lissa? I actually only change the eggs and everything else along with it to purple at the very end as at the beginning they were all a natural brown/red. Then I thought, why not? After all, it is Easter. :-)

Thank you for your comments. I would’ve loved to have seen what you would have done for this but that’s OK too. It’s always nice when you come to visit and leave a comment at least. Much appreciated, as always.

  5. Like the proverbial 'bad penny' I've turned up!!!!!
Lots to catch up with Michael so it will take a while - however I did manage a quickie post for today's theme.

Love your chicks and mama's Easter bonnet.
Hope you and A are doing well.

    Hugs - Mary

    1. Yes, those legs sticking out of the egg was one of the first things I thought of. :-) Too funny! I definitely had fun with this and it came together fairly quickly but needed Alexandra‘s consulting when it came to doing the chicks! She just makes hers so cute, doesn’t she?

Yes, I actually drew a few different kinds of hats for the hen and decided that the bonnet was the perfect choice. It’s sort of reminded me of a Jane Austen book or something!

Thank you so much, Wanda. I definitely hope you have a fantastic Easter too. And, no doubt, you and your Mr. are helping out people in that community.

  7. Oh wouldn't it be a hoot if chickens laid eggs that were that pretty. I know some do lay colorful eggs, but yours take the cake. Henrietta in her Easter bonnet rounding up her chicks is so fun. What a great way to celebrate an egg hunt.

    1. It is so funny how many here have commented on the Easter bonnet. Funny, because I couldn’t decide on the hat for Henrietta but then thought this one reminded me of a Jane Austen novel or something to that affect.

Similarly, I had actually coloured the eggs a brownish red but then decided why not just go bold and make it in easter purple! :-)

Thank you so much for your lovely comment here, Lorraine.

  9. Oh, I thought I had commented already. Must have forgotten to hit "Publish" :-/

Anyway... I'm loving the polka-dotted hen, and eggs. What fun if our kids had found such eggs in the coop back when we had chickens!

  12. I did see this, but somehow didn’t end up linking up.... last two weeks it has been that way... I use the hashtag but forget to link up here. Ah well.... I do love your little chicks all over in this piece... and all the polkadots. I seem to love polkadots more and more as I get older. I wonder why that is?

  13. Hmm...I do wonder why that is on both accounts, actually. too funny, Andrea. I'm glad I got to find your work on IG though as I'm sure Rain and others did too who are there. Thank you.
