Scribble Picnic: Octopus!
Welcome to our very first Picnic! I'm super excited who joins in here and who else might prefer to post to Instagram or Twitter (using #scribblepicnic and tagging me @dotty_hill).
Here's my entry above. This lil' octo is pleasantly and bewilderingly surprised to have popped out of the water, finding a rubber ducky atop his head. Will it become his water born "teddy-bear" of sorts? Will they go on lots of adventures together? Will someone on that ship afar take a photo of this most extraordinary scene? Ooh, the possibilities are endless.
Thanks for joining in and do please leave a comment if you've entered for the giveaway, letting me know exactly which ways you've helped promote this new art collective so I can be sure to enter you the correct number of times. Someone is going to have their very own little picnic with these fabulous offerings (and I might even throw in a few freebie art pieces too). I will be sure to post back here in a few days to let you know the lucky winner and before then, visiting each of you. :)

OH, what a cute Octopus, Michael! He seems quite happy with his new toy. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI've entered your fabulous giveaway and have placed the Scribble Picnic icon in the sidebar of my blog. I also created a separate post about it which you will find as the previous post to my entry post for this week.
Enjoy the rest of your week. :)
Well done and thank you. Yes, all your entries are noted (all 5 of them!) for the giveaway which really increases your odds of winning! Good luck and thank you so much for promoting this new art collective, Serena. I loved seeing your entry blurry eyes this morning on my phone from bed and even more so, seeing it on your own blog with write up.
DeleteThe co-op will be as successful and fun as the contributors make it so everyone counts! Thanks for visiting the others too here. Lovely to have your artsy hamper added to the mix!
Probably a little late to go into the draw but I shared your Scribble Picnic Introduction post over on my Google Plus page too. Thanks for reminding me of that option on Instagram. :)
DeleteP.S. - Thanks for your lovely comment on my entry too. :)
DeleteA very cute and lovely octopus who looks like he is a lot of fun. Love how you have put the ghost of the tentacles in the sea, very clever. Sorry Michael, could you remove my first link, I typed my name wrong and then couldn't remove it.
ReplyDeleteNo worries. Taken care of now. Yes, doing the underwater part was tricky but worth it. Thank you and thanks you for ading your own art too to this fist picnic. I love getting everyone on board and know this will only be as successful or fun as we all make it so having your multi talents is so lovely too, on that end.
DeleteLove your happy green eyed octopus with lots of personality today!
ReplyDelete:D Hahha. Thank you. Do let me know if I am missing any other entriesfor you for the the drawing?
DeleteMichael I think I have 4 entries
Delete1. Joined 1st Scribble Picnic
2. icon on my sidebar linking back to join scribble picnic
3. I promoted it on a recent post
4. I left a comment
OK, that is good to know. Thank you. Duly noted! :)
Deleteyour octopus is very cute and friendly! even though i think octopus are sort of creepy!! i mentioned the new meetup in a couple of blog posts as well as adding your icon in my sidebar. i hope to help get the word out so we have lots of people join in!!
ReplyDeleteThat is really great and yes, the more the merrier. OK, so I have you down for 2 posts, one art piece and one icon so for 4 entries into the fabulous giveaway. How fun!
DeleteAnd, yes, I would love to see this community be engaged and fun and varied in levels and styles and mediums even. Sometimes I will likely just leave it a pencil sketch in my sketchbook too.
What an adorable octopus, Michael! So bubbly and fun!
ReplyDeleteI've posted mine on my blog, and I sure hope I did your sidebar link correctly - I'm terrible with Wordpress and should have stuck with Blogspot...
So much fun doing this little challenge (and while Colin was napping, mind you!) Cheers!
Ah, I figured it was while you lil' chap was sleeping a few winks. Thank you so much. I loved it and duly noted your entries too. And yes, both Alexandra and I use blogspot for our blog but tried Wordpress at one point and found not only was it too hard to control, it significantly reduced access for other bloggers visiting for some reason. Out portfolios are done with squarespace whcih allows for a lot of customization which is really nice but even here, when having the blog on there it did not track as all as on blogspot that seems made for blogs and visiting each other easily. :)
DeleteI am hoping more people get to your blog adn read your other posts too as you really have a natural talent and are even able to interject humour into your writing which is not easy to do. I so enjoyed reading your post and the tie in to Octopus and mothering. Brilliantly played! :)
he is super cute! I like the little yellow spots on him and his eyes are just so adorable. such a happy take on theme.
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
thank you Lissa and happy to thrilled to see you here! :)
DeleteHe is so cute. I love the duckie on his head.
ReplyDeleteHee, that's my fave addition. Adds to the story.
DeleteI can't leave a comment for Serena Lewi's creation because no facebook but I just want to say I like her French octopus idea very much, very creative.
ReplyDeletehey, look, I'm number 7 on the participants list.
have a lovely day.
Ok, looks like it's fixed now adn thank you for bringing to our attention!
DeleteLove your friendly cute octopus Michael
ReplyDeleteHe is indeed friendly. Wanted it to appeal to kids. thank you.
DeleteThanks to Michael and Lissa for drawing the issue of my blog's Facebook comment form to my attention. I have always found that the Facebook form sits directly above the Blogger comment form and you just scrolled to which one you wanted to use but maybe some computer interpret the code differently.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that I have now removed the Facebook comments form. I had only added it to make it easier for Wordpress users who found it difficult leaving a comment on the Blogger form. I don't do Facebook anymore so just as easy to remove it.
Thanks for the heads up...much appreciated. :)
Ok, good to know! Thank you, Serena. Will make it easier for some perhaps. :)
DeleteAs usual I am not sure how often I will be participating, but the 'octopus' theme was just too good to pass.
ReplyDeleteYour painting is gorgeous and funny :)
That's fine. So glad you entered this time and get into the drawing too for the giveaway! :)
DeleteHello again, I linked up here to show some progress shots even though I already posted on instagram, will try to visit other bogs soon to see all the cute octopi, or is it octopuses?
ReplyDeleteReally glad you did that as I feel that allows for far more expression for such. Thank you. I'm looking forward to checking those out too! Great.
DeleteMichael,
ReplyDeleteI love prompts. Just in under the wire. So glad I saw it on Hanna's Facebook Feed. I'll have to keep track. Enjoyed this as usual.
Janis
Glad you liked it enough to join us here! I know not everyone likes imaginary so the next theme will be less so, being "cabin"-I do hope you will join us for that too, Janis! Thank you for playing along and picnicing with us! (Is that a word?)
DeleteTrying to get the hang of what you want. I put it Twitter. On Facebook. On my blog post. I figured out Instagram. I am going to put up on Pinterest as well. Oh I also commented on each of the entries. I hope to join you each week - just to paint. I have been doing quite a bit of painting lately as I am working on illustrating with another author. Also want to do Tadeo number 2. Story is ready but pictures are not.
DeleteJust checked. You actually get 5 entries as you left a comment on the initial scribble picnic sign up too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know who is more surprised–the octopus or the rubber duck! Fun idea!
ReplyDeleteSo far I haven't figured out how to add the Scribble Picnic icon/link on my sidebar, but I'll keep trying. I know I have others there, but they've been on it for years!
So happy to have you join in this very first pincic and good timing since you got the tail end of CT! Sorry for that but this one has new life and I think it going to be super engaging to people. I will visit your blog and check out the piece now. Thank you so much for playing along. And yes, you have an entry into the giveaway, two if you can figure out the side bar. :)
DeleteI love your octopus - the rubber ducky is just so whimsical. Thanks for the inspiration and for this new challenge. I've added your icon and link on my blog sidebar and posted on Instagram also. I'm off to comment now.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, so glad you mentioned IG too as I did not see that under #scribblepicnic but will refresh and look there too.And yes, three entries for the giveaway for you then! Thank you so much and soo fun having new blood, as it were here! I do hope you join us next week adn be sure to check back here to see not only whose name was picked for the prize but some other exciting news too. :)
DeleteGreat friendly looking octopus - and the ducky is sooooo cute! Love the ship and hills in the background - I'll be sailing on another one come May!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Cassie has joined in - do you know she actually has an art degree?
Happy weekend to you and Alex.
