Another bug collector of sorts — this one far more lovely... and utilitarian. While obviously not owning any ladybug/ladybird buttons or embroidered edging, not even any socks with such fun, I'm sure some of you do, right? Well, regardless, the picnic blankets and tables here are laid. Time to show us your own cheery bug collection...
P.S. BTW, the "fill-in-the-blank" challenge was a huge success and actually garnered the most curiosity and views (close to 500) I've had here! So, how about we do that again? The variety of interpretations from a simple dot and line were fascinating, don't you think? I wonder what you'd do with a blob-like shape perhaps? Hmmm.
I love what you have done here, a very realistic take here, different than your usual style, you must be evolving Michael. Cute ladybugs too.

Haha, I'm not evolving -- I can do realistic if I want to but usually find that style very boring and the biggest issue--takes waaay longer - a luxury I never have here. :)

I like the ladybug buttons & all the decorative colors. it's actually a nice outfit and the colors compliment each other.
ReplyDelete& yes, I do like that 'fill in the blank' idea. I wouldn't mind doing another those, I once draw a turtle out of photo of a crack in the sidewalk, it really is interesting what people sees in shapes and lines, our imagination is unlimited after all

ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore her. She's lovely. Her skin, and lips are so gentle and soft.
I do remember wearing sweaters like this one when I was in High School with pretty buttons and embroidered edging. Do you remember scatter pins, that you pined on your sweaters. I had two lady bug scatter pins...my that was so many years ago.
This may be my favorite..as you have gone beyond whimsical, and she could walk right off the page. Hugs.

DeleteAnyway, this whole piece from clothes to how she looked was fun to imagine. I know--I should have been a fashion designer perhaps but probably too much a classicist in terms of good tried and tested design.

DeleteNo, sorry, I only imagined the piece as seen here. I did crop off a little bit of the bottom but didn't imagine her face beynd the lips and left that to intrigue deliberately so the focus stayed on the embroidery and buttons. :) thank you.
Well, that's just lovely ... certainly something I would wear, ladybugs and all. When I was young, I had aubern hair like this yound lady and green was always my favorite color ... right on, Micheal :)

DeleteWouldn't it be funny is this woman had a mono brow adn bug eyes or something? I imagined the lips and jawline to be very feminine but left the rest to intrigue and imagination as such so to focus on the buttons and embroidery. I like ti when pieces make you imagine what is not shown.
