Tie it up and join in!

Here's the final version of my tie it up piece for Scribble Picnic, making this particular lil' girl the centre of a triptych of sorts with the flower pot and love letter versions alongside. I really think this series would be fun to offer as sweet note cards, what do you think? Hmm... I wonder if my assistant (Alexandra) might be willing to help get these done for me? Heh. After all, she's pretty busy building her own lil' illustration empire too!

While mine is a very literal/obvious interpretation of this week's theme, I wonder how many of you thought outside the box for your own versions? If last weeks "curly" contribution is anything to go by, I'm guessing several of you did something more unique. Time to find out...

  1. We thought the same way. I toyed with other ideas, but just plain didn't have the time to work up anything more complicated.

Can't wait to see your finished version of this sketch.

    1. You know, there is nothing more I love to read than a comment such as this or that someone has picked up a pencil after a long absence or is improving with practice. I have seen that with many people here and i love that. In fact, it helps me too.

SO glad you are playing along. Just keep bringing the "treats!" :) Thank you. Hope you like the coloured version too.

  4. Love your little girl Michael, she brings back so many memories. Agree with Christine - would make a lovely card for the holidays.

Hallmark must have started marketing their products in the UK when was about 12 as I recall going to W.H. Smith in town and spending hours looking at their lovely wrapping products! I would save my pocket money and buy items, then spend happy times folding and wrapping, then tying up my presents and such. Recipients always said they were too pretty to unwrap!

Off to the dentist now - not fun!
    Happy day - Mary

  7. They say that the best presents come in small packages. I am thinking that maybe she is getting a ring for her finger... or a bow for her hair... or.... Thank you Michael for hosting this delightful site.

    1. Funny how some people see it as she is untying a gift and others that she is wrapping up one which is what I was thinking but both work. I love that about art oftentimes.

I like the idea of a ring. I was thinking perhaps she was sending a homemade cookie to someone or a silver bell or maybe an innocent little love note back to whoever sent her the Valentines card earlier? :)

  9. Seems like a lot of us thought of a gift. I not sure why I didn't go with that, but somehow in my hurry to get them all done, I ended up with an old truck and all the belongings tied up.

Wanted to participate since I'm back home, so enlarged my "Tied Up" for today. Hope that was acceptable.

Your little girl is so sweet She seems well pleased with the little bow she tied. Love her little hands. Precious.

    1. Well, exept one thumb is way bigger than the other but let me tell you, it is not easy imaging hands doing such. I drew these several times jsut to get to it to this.

Anyway, so glad you are back and YES your piece was and is perfect. I loved how you added the story too. Welcome back! :)Thank you so much. You've been missed here.

    1. Maybe! I prefer drawing redheads though so would have to be redheaded I think. Thank you so much.

    2. Redheads are adorable. My mom is a redhead. I only got her skin, not her hair.
