Who brought the quilts to our Scribble Picnic?

Work in Progress: "You had him in stitches!" :D

Hi everyone. Feels like it's been ages since I've had a good picnic...and not only with being gone in Kentucky but STILL needing to make the rounds for the Pajamas one! I'll do that when visiting you THIS week. Double visits then at least. :) Sorry, I've simply been quite inundated as of late but by this Friday night things should start clearing off a bit.

OK, this is not completed yet but is up just to show you where I'm at now. I'll be sure to update this quilt pic later on, if not Wednesday night! (Fingers crossed.)

Re-purposed, fixed and sewn together, is it any wonder Frankie has a penchant for such? :)

Why Batman though? You’ve no doubt seen the “I believe” stickers for the Yeti or Aliens which some peeps truly get into. But what if everyone knows you’re meant to be just a work of fiction? Perhaps you too would embrace another conflicted soul of focition, one who likewise summons fear except is also idolized?

Behind that horrific facade nevertheless beats a human heart, lost in moments of pensive loneliness and still needing genuine human connection... as indeed do we all. Such are the thoughts that stir my creative musings.

Tune in later to catch the final piece. More unexpected coming your way...

So, who bought some comfy quilts to sit on?

Let's now see what YOU stitched...

  1. Beautiful piece thus far Michael, a quilted sweater, what a creative idea! Great job you have done with Mr. Frankenstein. I have been watching a lot of TV lately, it must be an aging thing as you have described, hmm.

  2. Oh LOL! I will never see Frankie the same ... now he will forever be a quilt. Who, but you, would have thought of it. Superb, Micheal and I have missed you these past two weeks. Amazing how we rely on our routines :) Welcome back and I hope things settle down for you ... and Alexandra will be back home :)

  3. Welcome home Michael - we missed you but hope your trip was good and that Alex and her family are doing well in TN.

This sweater was a truly awesome idea - and a great surprise of course.
Hey, you can always borrow my quilt to toss down for a real picnic, haha!
Happy week as you catch up with life at home.
    Hugs - Mary

    1. It's actually a throw made from a quilt but yes, I guess it does look like a jumper presently. ha. Oh, and btw, her mom and step dad are in Kentucky!

Yes, your quilt woudl be FAR too nice to use for a picnic--I'd feel terrible is someone spilt something on it. :)

Thank you so much. Good to be back too and yes my time with Alex was great but way too brief. She will be back on about three weeks.

  5. I love it! Your Frankie makes me think of Freddy Munster from The Munsters TV series back in the 60's. I used to love watching it as a kid! Fred was pretty much a Frankenstein clone with a very sweet nature. I love that your Frankie enjoys the finer things in life and a quilted jumper is sure to keep him cosy and warm.

    1. haha, yes, i did look at still from the class movie with Boris Karlof in itbut noted most people who have dran FRankensteion have simply copied those versus doing their own angle adn take wich is what I did. I also looked at pics of the actor who played Freddy and that helped me to imagine Frankie's forehead. :) Thank you. BTw, I have yet to see the Munsters! I get it mixed up with the Addams Family too.

  6. By the way, just thought I'd mention that the link for the Scribble Picnic graphic in your sidebar is no longer working.

  7. Oh my, I do love this one. How special to wear a quilted shirt to the picnic while enjoying your tea. I won't be able to participate this week....Long story.

    1. No problem. Thank you for the comment. haha, it;s obviously not clear but it's not a shirt or jumper but an actual quilt thrown over his broad shoulders! lol.

  8. He's wearing that quilt so well it looks tailored to him complete with folds that look like lapels. You're quite the artistic seamstress. I love how you've taken the quilt concept to another step with the stitched together Frankie. Just like a quilt of fabric it's his individual parts that make him whole.

    1. You got it, Lorraine. :) And I love this: "You're quite the artistic seamstress. " Probably about as close as I will ever get to sewing anything. I had to learn to sew on a button in boy scouts which I hated...as well as Boy Scouts itself as I then learned about Santa whilst having to bob for floating apples in cold water.(I'm quite sure that would not be allowed now!) I went on one more cold hiking trip amongst scratchy thorny bushes the next week and after my three year wait to get in, i duly quit the following week never to return. hahahah.

  10. Oh, as usual I forgot to link up, but you found me this week anyway. I love that you put so much emotion into a character mostly thought of as unfeeling. And you even added modern collective consciousness with a superhero to admire!

    1. Ah yes, you see quilts are stitched together from other parts, jsut as Frankenstein's story describes how he was stitched together from other people's body parts! All quite fictional, of course. Thank you for the visit, Baili.
