While mine is a very literal/obvious interpretation of this week's theme, I wonder how many of you thought outside the box for your own versions? If last weeks "curly" contribution is anything to go by, I'm guessing several of you did something more unique. Time to find out...

We thought the same way. I toyed with other ideas, but just plain didn't have the time to work up anything more complicated.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your finished version of this sketch.
I hope you like it! :) Thank you.
DeleteThis is a lovely piece, can't wait to see her in Christmas colours, it would be a wonderful card! Thanks as always for hosting us.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what you think of this coloured piece? :) I think it will be a great card.
DeleteYes it is beautifully coloured in and will be a wonderful card!
DeleteShe is sweet and soon to be colorful ... and such good fine motor skills :) Thank you, Michael, for hosting this wonderful blog. It has actually inspired me to start drawing again and I am loving it.
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From The Sol
You know, there is nothing more I love to read than a comment such as this or that someone has picked up a pencil after a long absence or is improving with practice. I have seen that with many people here and i love that. In fact, it helps me too.
DeleteSO glad you are playing along. Just keep bringing the "treats!" :) Thank you. Hope you like the coloured version too.
This is what has gotten me back to putting pencil and paper together again too, Andrea!
DeleteLove your little girl Michael, she brings back so many memories. Agree with Christine - would make a lovely card for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteHallmark must have started marketing their products in the UK when was about 12 as I recall going to W.H. Smith in town and spending hours looking at their lovely wrapping products! I would save my pocket money and buy items, then spend happy times folding and wrapping, then tying up my presents and such. Recipients always said they were too pretty to unwrap!
Off to the dentist now - not fun!
Happy day - Mary
I love your memory here and also what you yourself did in terms of wrapping up pressies, Mary. hope the colour version puts you even more in the a festive mood which before we know it will be upon us. :) Thank you .
DeleteHi Michael :) This is my first week joining in. :) Your little girl is very cute and I can see her in festive green and red plaid colours at Christmas time! You draw very well! I'm not as gifted!
ReplyDeleteYour piece is actually super great. I loved it and thank you so much! I took your advice and made her sweater red! I love how festive it is with the gold too.
DeleteLove too your marvelous comments for everyone. A total team player and making out picnics that much more fun. Very thoughtful comments. I love that. Thank you so much. You will be great to have along. PLEASE keep coming back. Can't wait to see what you do next...now, I jst need to figure out some new themes though. :)
she's a sweet companion to your other pieces. is it already the holidays?
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
Whilst the holidays are a ways off, you know how it goes with printing and shopping. People need start thinking about it now to have it ready in time for others! :)
DeleteThey say that the best presents come in small packages. I am thinking that maybe she is getting a ring for her finger... or a bow for her hair... or.... Thank you Michael for hosting this delightful site.
ReplyDeleteFunny how some people see it as she is untying a gift and others that she is wrapping up one which is what I was thinking but both work. I love that about art oftentimes.
DeleteI like the idea of a ring. I was thinking perhaps she was sending a homemade cookie to someone or a silver bell or maybe an innocent little love note back to whoever sent her the Valentines card earlier? :)
I thought of a similar idea as well, sweet little girl and present.
ReplyDeleteYes you did! You know what they say about great minds..."Thank you.
DeleteSeems like a lot of us thought of a gift. I not sure why I didn't go with that, but somehow in my hurry to get them all done, I ended up with an old truck and all the belongings tied up.
ReplyDeleteWanted to participate since I'm back home, so enlarged my "Tied Up" for today. Hope that was acceptable.
Your little girl is so sweet She seems well pleased with the little bow she tied. Love her little hands. Precious.
Well, exept one thumb is way bigger than the other but let me tell you, it is not easy imaging hands doing such. I drew these several times jsut to get to it to this.
DeleteAnyway, so glad you are back and YES your piece was and is perfect. I loved how you added the story too. Welcome back! :)Thank you so much. You've been missed here.
This is a sweet piece Michael, it would make a lovely Valentine, Birthday or holiday card. Maybe another with a young man doing just the same for the other sex to buy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe! I prefer drawing redheads though so would have to be redheaded I think. Thank you so much.
DeleteRedheads are adorable. My mom is a redhead. I only got her skin, not her hair.
DeleteWOW. I just noticed you added the color. I'm so glad she's a redhead. She cuter than ever.
ReplyDelete:D
Deletejust notice the color update, I like all the red and gold. & love her sweater textures or whatever those frayed edges of sweaters are call - it's a nice touch
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
Thank you so much, Lissa! I love the Knapp feel of her sweater, must say. It was fun to colour in.
DeleteYour little girl tying up a gift for someone special is so sweet, Michael. Yes, festive holiday colours would be perfect. I only managed a messy scribble for this week's offering but it was fun to do.
ReplyDeleteJust noticed the colour update too....perfect!
DeleteThank you so much, Serena. So glad you got to join us after all this week. Sand and all.
DeleteBonjour,
DeleteShe looks, with her eyes closed, to be making a wish as she's tying that bow. So sweet. I love her fuzzy sweater. Have you a name in mind for her?
ReplyDeleteNo name in mind. :) I was just thinking she was looking down but love that idea of her making a wish, Lorraine. Thank you.
DeleteAs your sweet girl ties up the little package, I believe she is, with a hint of a blush, thinking how much the intended recipient will enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteYou got it! Exactly! :)
DeleteI really like all of the colours...she has my hair lol! Though she does dress better than me! :) This is fun, I'm glad Tammie Lee suggested I join in! I LOVE next week's theme! :))
ReplyDeleteI love tht you love the theme for next week, Rain! I'm leavng it open to interpretation for Black & White. It could be literally only jsut b&w or mainly that or just a pen drawing or even a commentary on race relations! Who knows !
DeleteCool blog. Just found it and thinking that I will play along with Black and White! Awesome work by others and I love yours.
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting, Pam. :) If you need some guidance, read this:
