Under a Scribble Picnic BLANKET

Under a Hedgie Blanket of Blue

As this title suggests, I was inspired by that swooning classic, Under a Blanket of Blue, specifically, Doris Day's rendition.

If I've got to be out camping, let it be with hot cocoa in hand, snuzzled under wraps with the twinkling stars above. Now, that sounds romantic. :)

How about you? Time to bring your blankets to this week's picnic...

  1. Michael,
I was thinking cozy too but changed my mind. I love the way your "cuppa" has a way of entering your drawings. Lovely picture!

I ran of time with mind and did a very very quick watercolour. Sometime, - maybe while I am in the States I will slow down and do a real painting - pure watercolour. I have been doing batiks and I love doing them - maybe that's what I am supposed to do? Thanks for the linkup. Blessings, Janis

  2. Often overlooked benefit of quills, they keep your blanket nicely anchored! What a great illustration.

    1. I didn't notice that. Shows how fast I was going this morning. Great idea.

    2. You totally got it, Paula! Well done! :) And you know what? whilst Mr. Hedgie doesn't like camping at all (like me), he promised "I won't be prickly..." To which, she just lovingly handed him a specially made hot cocoa.
      Awwwww...

  3. I love that you used the blue to put the focus on the fuzzy blanket...not that it takes away from those cute little hedgies though. The steam rising up from the mugs of cocoa sets the mood perfectly. Lovely work, Michael!

    1. Undoubtedly...and I even get prickly if having to remotely camp! :) I am quite a pushover for romance, you know. :)

  5. Micheal, this is toooo cute :) I love the little hedge hogs and how their sharp little bristles stick up through the cozy warm blanket. Love how you captured that night sky as well. And, the cups of joe remind me that I haven't had my first cup this morning ... better do that. I am on the run today as I am every Wednesday. Thank you, Micheal for opening this door for all of us ...

    2. I volunteer at the Raptor Center where we care for Raptors that have been injured and can't be returned to the wild. We have owls, hawks, falcons and now a Turkey Vulture ... who is new to us and still getting used to us. He is blind in one eye sadly because he is otherwise young and healthy. And you are so right, on these cool fall mornings, crawling back under the blankets is a great temptation ... but not on Wednesday:)

  6. Ahhhh I love this image Michael! Yes, that's the perfect winter camping scenario. Many years ago I went snowshoeing in the Cascades under the full moon and have to say that while the entire experience was amazing, the hot cocoa the guides had waiting for the group at the end was the very best part. lol

  7. I love that Doris Day song - thanks for sharing a link where we can listen to a bit of it - she had a beautiful voice.
Now to your hoggies - definitely you and Alexandra - sharing hot drinks and a snuggly blanket under the stars. You even captured amazing twinkly eyes and loving expressions - perfect little prickly but gentle hoggies, always so sweet and needing lots of TLC because they do silly things like try to cross busy roads!

Loved today's theme Michael - anxious to see what you are coming up with for next week!
    Hugs - Mary

Aw! Wha? Ha, yes indeed, Mary.

And yes, you so got it-- I really did try to add some twinkel to the eys so thak nyou for noticing. Undoubtedly Alex and I too...although I would be the one being prickly as I hate camping! but give me cocoa or a fire and bed to turn to for the night then I could xp a part of it and be jsut fine. Of course, who doesn't love a bright starry sky with shooting stars? :) Thanks for the lovely commens, as always.

    1. Acually, my dear Wanda, as I wrote above, it's hot cocoa this time! See the lil' marshmallows floating on top? :)

Oh yes, I am a total romantic. Yo know it. Now, if I truly had to camp...probably not. I would be counting for the time to go adn gt warm indoors! Shooting stars would help though.

    1. Funny, as I actually don't have ANY good memories of such--pretty much loathed it as I like a real loo, warmth, soft bed etc. CREATURE comforts, ya know. But, hey, it does sound romantic and adding coca and stars definitely helps! And you know, hedgehogs aren't as picky as I! :) Thank you.

  13. This makes me think of you and Alexandra, snuggled under a blanket.
I love how the blanket is furry like your critters. Sweet how the light is on them too. A charming piece.

  14. I really like the sweetness of this. Sharing a cup of hot cocoa under a blanket couldn't be any cozier - even with the quills.

  15. this is wonderful, especially the blue of the blanket and the pointy textures that matches so well with these lovely creatures.

sorry, I haven't really participate lately, been a bit overwhelmed with work and wasn't really up to doing anything. perhaps next week.

    have a lovely day.

  16. Hi Michael :)) How sweet! :) I want to be cozy under that Scribble Blankee :)) It's freezing here these days. Sorry I missed this week's picnic, actually I'm kind of sad that I did. My time has been taken over by FIVE dogs...we have three, but our friend had to leave overseas on an emergency and we suddenly have 5 canines in the house, it's insanity. I hope things settle down soon so I can drop in on the picnic next week!
    :)
