If you go into the woods today

If a phone rings in the FOREST does it make a call? Here's my evening stroll into this week's Scribble Picnic. I've bought along some cherry pie and a pot of tea, should anyone get cold or need to huddle in that phone booth out of the rain.

Let's see how we all decided to picture this gathering, shall we? Looking forward to seeing what each of you worked up! Thank you so much for playing along.

P.S. The next prompt is on the side bar. Happy Thanksgiving to any of you here who will be celebrating. Enjoy!

P.P.S. I don't know what happened to the sign up, so I just went ahead and redid it again! It's now extended to Friday 2am EST for all of you out there. I'll come back to see everyone's contribution later then. Hope each of you get to sign up. So sorry about that inconvenience. Oy! But, just think, for any of you not done yet, there's still time! It doesn't have to be complicated. It could just be a relatively quick sketch like this one. Messy is fine. :)

    2. Michael,

Thanks. Unfortunately, I was away from Blogosphere all day yesterday and didn't get a chance to check until this morning missing the deadline by a nearly 2 hours EST. :( Oh well...I did add my direct link in my first comment that I left ya. I love the picture! The first thing I thought of is Dr. Who. Your brought cherry pie? Yum! I better not mention this to DH because he LOVES cherry pie and I know you didn't bring enough for him. :D Thanks for hosting. I'm working ahead on the next art challenge. Have a good day!

    3. thank you so much, Christine. I love it when the creative muse strikes as then it's so much easier doing the piece. I mustt love the pressure of last minute to have my creativity kick into gear then as before that, I had no idea what to draw! Lol.

It's going to be interesting for me to come up with a goodbye to Autumn when I'm knee deep in snow already lol! Hope you both have a great Thanksgiving!!

    1. Haha, yes, I suppose you've long said goodbye there, haven't you, dear Rain? Your snow would make for a memorable goodbye...as in, don't let the door slam you on the way out! Haha.
Anyway, the sign up had worked so not sure what happened, but please sign in now. Sorry bout that.

  5. Still eating your berry crumble and custard Michael? Hope you put the link up soon!

Speaking of custard, I love it, hot or cold and set up as in trifle, yum! I made a great apple pie this week - dolloped on vanilla ice cream, good, but think I'll make custard for the leftovers this evening as, with this terrible wet weather, we definitely require comfort food!

Hope all well with you and Alexandra - hugs, Mary

    2. Sorry things messed up this week - but glad I've come back and am smiling from your phone box in the forest. You can order a picnic from there - let's face it, they will deliver anywhere these days!!!
I made my custard and it was lovely served hot over the apple pie!
Hope the rain is not too bad your way, we are drenched from terrible weather all this week - it's feeling/looking a lot like home!
      Hugs - Mary

    3. That custard sounds divine. Yum.

Yes, sorry yo say but it is utterly freezing here--feels way worse than -25F in Colorado, due to the humidity here. It's even cold in San Antonio!

  6. Phew! The Mr Linky gadget worked in my favour as I very nearly let this week pass because I was so late to get started.

I love your telephone box in the forest, Michael! Cool take on the prompt!

I hope Alexandra is still going well with her recovery. Enjoy your weekend! :)

    1. I should add, btw, Serena, that I'm sorry to have "goodbye Autumn" as the next theme as for you it will be more like, Say hello to Autumn!" If you'd like to do that instead, that would actually be very fun and understood by all us here! Thank you. :)

  7. Yes, I actually thought that could work quite well for you, Serena! Ha. Thank you so much and, yes, Alex is slowly but surely getting better. Having he tailbone pain gone really helps. :)

  8. So, if a phone rings in the woods does it make a sound? Ha, ha! I love this. The way you created the depth of the trees is perfect. And, like a cardinal in the snow, that phone booth is a star in the woods. Wonderfully done!

  9. We would expect no less of you than to throw something unexpected in your drawing! Love the phone booth!

Just wondering... will the "Goodbye Autumn" theme be for Tuesday (the 27th) as listed, or the usual Wednesday (the 28th)?

Have a great day of giving thanks!

    1. Yes, thanks for noticing that, Jolene. Oops! Alex noticed it too and fixed it to the Wednesday. I keep doing that, don't I? I think it's from all the years of having Creative Tuesdays. Lol. Thank you for you lovely comment too. Now, let's imagine who might be on the other side of the line. Aslan perhaps? :)

  10. I don't watch the dr who but I recognize the red telephone booth or did you not meant to pay tribute to the show? I guess since I have seen so much stuff about the show I can't help but relate your piece to it. anyway, I like the pop of red in the field of blacks and grays.

I forgot to check back for the linky so I couldn't add my link, oh well, no biggie.

    have a lovely day.

    1. Well, as I said on your piece, I will add a link to it on the next write up to ensure people get to see all your work there. Well deserved after so much effort put forth there. Love it. :)

  11. Lissa, ha, the Doctor's phone booth is the old blue phone box the London police officers used in the early 20th century. They then upgraded to teh red ones so common today. (There was actually anothr attempt to upgrade to ugly modern plastic egg like yellow ones, imitating New York's yellow cabs, but there was such a public outcry with people demanding the old phone booths be reinstated so that was eventually done and all the yellow ones taken out. Thank goodness.
Anyway, so, I did think of Dr. Who as how woudl a phone booth end up the forest but I chose the normal red booths as a nod to my Londoner Mother. :) As it is, we actually lived near Earl's Court Tube Station that to this day still has a (locked/non functioning) old Police box! Love it. :)
