A Star studded picnic

Welcome back everyone! How's your week going? Here, it's horribly hot but at least it quickly cools down to the mid 60's later evening. :)

For stars this week, my piece is actually inspired by this Instagram challenge where an artist gives permission to "copy" their art work, or more so be inspired by it, to then come up with their own rendition. So, when I saw the example listed below, I decided I simply had to give it a shot...and figured out how to tie it into our challenge this week too. It's been fun seeing how people interpret someone's work. Of course, normally, one shouldn't copy anyone's art without giving proper credit (let alone then try to sell it as one's own "original" which Alex and I have unfortunately seen on IG periodically). However, here's one of those exceptions and a fun one at that. Whilst doing this, I took liberty to change her around a bit, add my own flair and so on. What fun!

Thanks for signing up. I know all of us are getting busy this time of year. We might need to even take another break again, depending on how many sign up or not this week. Let's find out....

  1. What a fun challenge that you have made your own Michael!

  2. I hadn't heard of doing this before. Yours came out great. I love the circular motion of the sky in the background. You have a knack for adding those details that make something flat come alive.

    1. Ha ha, so glad you caught that. Thank you. There are quite a few people out there offering their pieces for such a challenge which also gives them a promotional boost on other peoples accounts.

  3. Hi Michael :) I really like your rendition! It's very cute and very starry! :)

I'm kind of off the blog in the summertime, but I got a little something for the picnic on IG, I put my link above. You're right about copying other people's work...I think mine are obvious though, I wonder, should I credit Warner Brothers? ;)

    1. You're not saying your Looney Tines ones are entirely original, anymore so, yes, obvious, so of course that is totally different. :) Thanks. So, would you like a longer summer break? I'd love feedback. Any yes, you are busy with outdoors things too, naturally, which you have to take advantage of with those long winters!

    2. Well, this is only my opinion. I personally like the routine of a weekly challenge. I actually find when there is a week off that I lose my rhythm! While others might need the time off, I don't. :)

I had something in mind for a painting, and I actually started it, but I'm waiting on a paint pen to finish the details!!! Otherwise I would have done a painting too as I usually do. It's supposed to be in the mail tomorrow or Friday so I'll post it late on IG anyway!

I will always find time for art, but in the summer like I said, I don't blog as often, but I will always participate at least on IG!

    3. Yes, I totally know what you mean about getting out. However, I also know that people are on the road busy so, still thinking it through. Thank you so much for employee, Rain.

  5. I love what you did with your version, Michael! Orange and blue make great contrast colours and she certainly seems very happy to be star-gazing. It’s also very nice of the artist to allow others to use her illustration as a base for doing their own version. Kinda like visual prompts. Someone else to follow on Instagram. :)

    1. There are actually quite a few artists out there on Instagram doing the same challenge and offering their pieces. On the plus side for them it gives them public notice on other peoples Instagram feeds. Thank you so much!

  6. Even as similar as yours and the original are, yours is still distinctly yours!

And it makes me wish I'd gone up to our son's a few nights ago when he set up his telescope!

  7. Sorry, no time this week after getting back from Canada etc. So much to do - the blog and such are taking a bit of a break!

Any news for me regarding August plans Michael? Hope life is going well.
